Meet Grant Culbertson
Owner of Bucket Brigade Junk Removal
Seven Years in the Military and a New Direction
Grant Culbertson is the owner of Bucket Brigade Junk Removal and a firefighter with a background in military service. After serving as a military firefighter, he left the military in 2019. In 2020, he began working as a civilian firefighter in Florida, continuing a career built around teamwork, physical work, and helping people through difficult situations.
Working alongside other firefighters gave Grant an idea for something of his own. Many of the guys at his fire station were looking for ways to make extra money on their days off. After hearing a conversation about junk removal on a podcast, he started thinking about how well the work would suit them. They were already used to heavy lifting, working as a crew, and treating people's homes with respect. In 2021, Grant turned that idea into a company where off-duty firefighters could work together while helping people in their community.
How Firefighting Shaped Grant's Approach to Work
Grant's years in firefighting taught him the importance of teamwork, clear communication, and paying attention to details. In the fire service, cutting corners can have serious consequences. He carries that same mindset into junk removal, where he believes every job deserves care and attention, regardless of its size.
His experience also taught him how to work with people during stressful situations. Whether someone's facing an emergency or feeling overwhelmed by a property cleanout, Grant believes in staying calm, listening, and treating people and their homes with respect.
Building Something With His Fellow Firefighters
Grant started his company in 2021 after noticing that many firefighters at his station wanted to earn extra money on their days off. Junk removal seemed like a natural fit for people already used to physical work, teamwork, and helping others.
He also wanted the freedom to run something of his own while working alongside people he knew and respected. What began as an opportunity for fellow firefighters became a way to continue serving the community outside the fire station.
Grant's Hands-On Knowledge of Junk Removal
Since 2021, Grant has gained hands-on experience helping homeowners, landlords, and property managers handle unwanted belongings and property cleanouts. His work has given him practical knowledge of different removal jobs and what it takes to complete them properly.
His areas of experience include:
- Furniture removal
- Garage and storage unit cleanouts
- Rental property and moving cleanouts
- House cleanouts
- Light demolition, including sheds, docks, and hot tubs
- Construction and yard debris removal
Grant also understands how to evaluate a job before work begins. From reviewing photos to arranging on-site assessments for larger projects, he focuses on understanding what's involved and communicating clearly about the work.
The Crew Grant Built
At Bucket Brigade Junk Removal, we're a firefighter-owned and operated crew that believes good work starts with how we treat people. We show up ready to work, take care around your property, and explain what the job involves before getting started. We don't believe in cutting corners or making things more complicated than they need to be. Our goal is to make junk removal straightforward while giving fellow firefighters an opportunity to serve their community outside the fire station.
